Like I said in last nights post I have had this blog running for a little while. Short breaks here and there but for the most part it has traveled with me for almost 2 years. I am still in the same little house with the same wonderful Man. The Kid… well he is a rumbling tumbling almost 8 year old and always on the move. My “boys” have a respect for the house and all of the “ old stuff” in it. However my house also holds two four legged family members as well.
We are cozy and almost quaint but a little more room would be nice. I just keep thinking to myself that as the spring comes and the weather stays dry and the nights get longer again there is less and less time we are inside our tiny little house.
So, this season…. what will it bring to the shop? I am thinking 50’s BBQ’s and patio socials. Cocktails flow while waiting for the perfect moments when the burgers are done. The iron chef also known as the Man of The House calls to gather all the men around as they debate the sauces and tenderness.
I see full circle skirts on the woman and little ribbons in the girls hair. Of course with my house having boys, dirt on the shirts and knees of the pants or long short is always a given. (Look in the tips of the day for Baking Soda tips on how to clean this off)
So I guess you we will see a few things this season, probably some out door patio wear, utensils for the BBQ and outdoor wardrobes. Aprons are always a plenty so be sure to check them out and be the best looking host at your next social.
Time to run, my 9-5 is coming to an end today and it is time to work on the grocery list.

We have so many wonderful things in the shop these days. And as summer comes to a close ( so sad ) we are trying to get in our final trips before we hunker down for the winter. Airway is the only way to travel! I took a trip earlier in the season to Las Vegas!! Along came my airway and a couple other hard case vintage cases that I just cannot do without when I travel. The heads turn, the conversations start and everyone wants to know where you got it. The great thing about vintage .. well anything is there is always a good story to go with it. Vintage is rare, its the perfect find and when you have that great find you want to show it off! Not too hard to do when people notice it first. So give them something to stare at and carry your airway in style.. vintage style!

How about this Monday? Not too shabby so far just the regular office buzzing-ness and everything else that goes along with getting back into the week.
Last night after the Kid was in bed and the dogs were falling fast asleep on my couch (grr) the Man of the House and I popped in a movie in bed. “ Flawless” - plot has something or another to do with a jewelry heist. I say this vaguely due to the fact that I was not particularly paying attention to the movie, just the clothes. Set in the mid 50’s Demi Moore is the only female manager at this Diamond Company. Not much of a feat in today’s standards for woman but back then it was totally unheard of. Being passed over 6 times, with one man not even qualified enough this lady had some issues to gripe contemplate.
I will not tell you the plot or spoil it for you. I will tell you though, if you love a great vintage outfit as much as I, as well as work the 9-5 like I you will definitely want to check out this movie. Her out fits are fantastic! She moves in them gracefully even with her heals. Her hair did fall out of place and across her face a couple times though she didn’t let this stop her from achieving the overall “ No hair out of place “ look.
The one thing that I also noticed was she didn’t have an outfit for every day of the week. Nor did she have a different outfit for each day of the whole movie. They actually used the same outfit a couple times, in good 3-week span. I thought that was absolutely marvelous! How true is it now and how true was it back then! We mix and match our clothes. The pants I have on today are black, thus I may wear them again this week with a different shirt and it will be something totally different.
I have the vintage patterns for every dress she wore. I have multiple patterns for the collars on her dresses. I did find a couple flaws in the movie with two pieces but I will leave those alone. Hollywood is Hollywood- they are not in it for the facts, just as long as it looks good.
